Not to Brag, But Celebration's Schools are the Best
There's a reason the town website lists "education" first when describing Celebration. There are just two schools here — Celebration K-8 School and Celebration High School — and they're some of the best in the area. The Florida Department of Education gave both schools high grades for their students' achievements in English Language Arts, math, science, and Social Studies.
Here's an Overview of the Osceola School District
The way school assignments work in different areas can be confusing at first, especially if you're moving from out of state. We're just going to take a minute and go over the dry stuff: school attendance boundaries, standardized testing, dress codes, etc. But we think you'll feel a little more at ease once you know more about the Osceola Country public school district.
How Students are Assigned to Celebration Schools
In the Osceola School District, students are assigned to nearby schools based on which "attendance zone" they live in. Most of the people living in Celebration fall within the Celebration School and Celebration High School attendance zones, but you can always double-check with the Osceola School District.
When Kids are in School
Typically, Celebration students are in school from late August through the end of May, and the school year is separated into 9-week quarters. Progress reports go home about a month after the quarter starts and report cards go home at the end of each quarter. There's about a 2-week winter break at the end of December.
When School-Wide Testing Happens
Students throughout the state have to take what's called the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Writing Assessment for English Language Arts (ELA) courses and the End-Of-Course (EOC) tests for math — that's a lot of acronyms! This happens toward the end of the school year.
What the Uniforms Look Like
Osceola County public schools — Celebration's included — have a uniform policy. In general, the dress code is dark or khaki pants with white or navy blue collared shirts. You can check out the district's uniform policy here for the details.
